Linear Polarizing and Circular Polarizing filters have same effect, but Linear Polarizer is for Nob-Autofocus and Circular Polarizer is for Autofocus cameras, they allow you to remove unwanted reflections from the surfaces such as water or glasses and etc. They also enable colors to be more distinct and with better contrast.
